A note from Deacon Mike Eiffe, RCIA Coordinator:

Have you ever wondered why Catholics do the things that we do?  Do you sometimes have questions for your Catholic friends that they have a hard time answering?  Would you like to learn more about the Catholic faith?  If so, I would like to invite you to consider participation in a program called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

The RCIA program is designed to allow you to reflect on your own relationship with God, to think about whether God is calling you to do more, to learn about the Catholic faith by understanding Catholic beliefs, to experience the Church’s liturgical life, and, if you feel so called, to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil in the spring.

Here at St. Albert the Great, we have assembled an experienced team of volunteers whose love of the faith and of the Church fills them with enthusiasm and passion.  Father Chris has asked me to assume a leadership role, and I am eager to begin!  Our team is anxious to walk with you on your own journey of faith.  We will meet every Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. beginning on September 10.  Our gatherings will be held with the appropriate social distancing measures being adhered to.  While we will learn together about many aspects of the Catholic faith, the RCIA is not so much academic study as it is thoughtful reflection on how God has blessed each of us and how we can become better disciples of His son Jesus.

I would not expect you to commit to anything at this point!  However, I would like to invite you to attend our first session on September 10 and see for yourself if this program appeals to you.  Our meeting will be held in the new faith formation room adjacent to the narthex (formerly our chapel).  Your spouse or other adult family members are more than welcome to attend as well.

Please call me at (865) 696-5264 if you think you might be interested, or if you should have any questions.  May God bless you and your family – I hope to see you in September!
