Faith Formation Committee

Through Faith Formation, we encounter Christ as we explore our faith and learn more about the Church.

FF Programs:

PreK-K Children's Liturgy of the Word- This program gives our young children ages 4-5 the opportunity to appreciate the Gospel message and participate in the mass celebration at their developmental level. We provide students a basic liturgical understanding of the mass and engage them in activities pertaining to the Gospel reading for that Sunday. This group is released to meet during the 9:00a.m and 11:00a.m.masses right before the first reading and return to the church during the offertory. Linnie Sexton is our coordinator for this age group.

Grades 1-6 - This group meets each Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30pm. The young people build upon their faith foundation each year with the goal of increased insight into their faith. We are very fortunate to offer sacramental preparation to not only our second grade class (First Reconciliation and First Communion) and our sixth grade class (Confirmation) but also older children who have that need. Whether through gatherings as a group or individual classes, they participate in special projects and activities throughout the year and are given opportunities to grow in their faith. Robyn Wilson is our coordinator for this age group.

Grades 7-9 (floating year) Education - This group meets each Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30pm. This middle school group has a unique curriculum designed to continue the building of their faith post Confirmation. This class incorporates varied media and discussion to help our young people continue their person journey with Christ while increasing their participation in the community as well. Stephanie Smith is our coordinator for this age group.

Grades 7-9 (floating year) Social- This group also meets for social events about twice a month (events TBA in bulletin). This provides an opportunity for building faith community through fun activities both on and off campus. Stephanie Smith is our coordinator for this age group.

Grades 9 (floating year)-12- Our High School parishioners will meet Sunday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00pm.  Our high school program is focused on both learning and living our faith.  The program includes service, study, sacramental, and social elements. Deacon Mike and Joan Eiffe are our coordinators for this age group.

Adult Education- Adult parishioners can participate in these seasonal meetings on various topics. Check the bulletin for current class offerings. Deacon Mike Eiffe Coordinates this effort.

RCIA-  Starting each Fall, there are regular Monday evening sessions for those who would like to know more about the Catholic Church and its teachings. The sessions are free and imply no commitment on your part to join the Catholic Church. These sessions are opportunities for you, and others that you may wish to invite, to ask any questions you may have about Jesus Christ and the Church. These gatherings are open to people who are not baptized, as well as those who are baptized Christians from Protestant backgrounds, or baptized Catholics who have not received their First Communion and/or Confirmation. How can you help? Be a sponsor, join the team, and pray for the candidates and catechumens. Mike Clarke is the coordinator for this group.

Baptism Preparation- This class is available for those families preparing a child for Baptism. This is set up to help us better understand the sacrament of Baptism, and how it is celebrated at our parish. Deacon Mike Eiffe coordinates these classes.

Sacramental Preparation- This is available for parishioners in grades 3- 12 who have not yet received all of their sacraments. We work with these parishioners to prepare them to receive Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Communion! Contact the parish office for more information (865-689-7011).

VBS-  A half a day for one week during the summer, our kindergarten thru fifth graders come together to explore their faith. Using crafts, science projects, bible stories games and music, they learn more about our faith. There are many opportunities to volunteer your time even for an hour to help with the activities of the week! So come and join us for a week of excitement!
